AFTER THE MATERIALS ARE PURCHASED AND BROUGHT BACK TO OUR STUDIO, THEY ARE LAUNDERED WITH TRU EARTH LAUNDRY STRIPS, WHICH ARE READILY BIODEGRADABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH OECD 310D, VEGAN/CRUELTY FREE AND HYPOALLERGENIC.
FROM THERE, THE MATERIALS BEGIN THE DESIGN JOURNEY TO BECOME A ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE. THEY ARE CUT, SEWN, AND RE-IMAGINED.
the studio aims to work as close to zero-waste as possible, which means materials are used over and over, AND scraps are cut smaller and smaller.
eventually, THEY are reimagined as patches, appliques and all garment label tags.

NEWSPAPER - MADE FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS, RECYCLABLE, BIODEGRADABLE / COMPOSTABLE Newspaper is safe to compost, but it breaks down quite slowly because of its high lignin content. (Lignin is a substance found in the woody cell walls of plants, and it is highly resistant to decomposition). Most newspapers today use water or soy-based inks. READ MORE

tissue paper - MADE FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS, BIODEGRADABLE / COMPOSTABLE According to Cornell University researchers, wrapping paper can probably be composted if it’s not glossy, doesn’t have a plastic, waxy, or metallic coating, and isn’t “shockingly bright”/Astro bright. “Generally, if it tears easily, it's okay to compost it.” READ MORE
boxes - MADE FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS, RECYCLABLE, BIODEGRADABLE / COMPOSTABLE Cereal boxes are made from paperboard, and, save for inks and glue, the entirety of a recycled box can be reused. Many cereal boxes are already made from recycled paper. At a recycling plant, paperboard is mixed with water and broken down into pulp, then washed and filtered to remove inks, coatings and other contaminants. READ MORE
In retail and ecommerce, dead stock refers to the inventory that doesn't sell and doesn't have a high likelihood of selling in the future. [...] Dead stock is also referred to as deadstock, obsolete stock/inventory, and excess stock/inventory.
Thrifting refers to the act of shopping at a thrift store, flea market, garage sale, or a shop of a charitable organization. A larger philosophy celebrates the recycling of formerly-owned items, finding new use and new love for vintage material goods which had been thrown out.
Recycling goods through the secondhandmarket reduces use of resources in manufacturing new goods, and diminishes waste which must be disposed of, both of which are significant environmental benefits.
Typical "found objects" include natural materials; or man-made items such as newspaper cuttings, photographs, pieces of glass, fragments of scrap metal, pieces of textile fabric […] and so on.

Post-consumer waste is a waste type produced by the end consumer of a material stream; that is, where the waste-producing use did not involve the production of another product.
Pre-consumer Material means material or by-products generated after manufacture of a product is completed but before the product reaches the end-use consumer.
